Congratulations to Rebecca from Michigan. She won a VIP trip and took her friend to NYC for the 5th Annual Ally Coalition Talent Show. Hear what she had to say about the experience...

Propeller: How did you find out about Propeller and what type of actions did you complete to earn points towards winning this experience?

Rebecca: I found out about Propeller through The Ally Coalition, the nonprofit that held the benefit event I entered. I donated to the Ally Coalition to earn points, served as a head volunteer during one of the stops on the Troye Sivan tour earlier in the year, referred friends to sign up for Propeller, and watched a lot of videos on the Propeller website.

Propeller: What was the highlight of The Talent Show?

Rebecca: Every part was absolutely incredible, but my favorite was a tie between Jack playing a new Bleachers song on the piano and Taylor Swift coming out to surprise the crowd and sing Delicate with Hayley Kiyoko. Both of those were very unexpected and brought out a new level of excitement that made it a night I'll never forget.

Propeller: Did you meet Jack and Rachel? How was this experience?

Rebecca: Jack was so so nice! He was really happy to see me and excited to know that I'd won the contest which was really sweet. Because Taylor was hiding backstage as a surprise it had to be shortened...but it was really great to catch up and see him!

Propeller: What was the best part of the trip to New York?

Rebecca: I loved being able to share the experience with my friend Kara. She'd never been to New York before and she'd never seen a lot of the people on the lineup so seeing her get excited was a lot of fun and I loved showing her around my favorite parts of the city. Because we were there so close to the holidays we got to go see the Rockefeller Christmas Tree which was beautiful.

Propeller: Why is The Ally Coalition so important to you?

Rebecca: I love The Ally Coalition because they are really committed to providing for their partner organizations in collaborative ways that best assess their partners' needs. I've done a lot of volunteer work with their partner in Detroit the Ruth Ellis Center and it's great to see how much they work to really embody what it means to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community not just in name but in action.
