Ram Dass is a spiritual thought leader who is known worldwide for his teachings on consciousness and best-selling books like Be Here Now. His foundation, The Love Serve Remember Foundation, is dedicated to preserving and continuing the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba and Ram Dass and has been a partner of Propeller since the beginning.
We've been working with LSRF to support this mission and launched an experience enabling a winner and a friend to Escape To Maui With Ram Dass. This experience was part of Ram Dass's bi-annual retreat, which included meditations, Dharma talks, yoga, and other teachers such as Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg, Krishna Das and several others.
We caught up with winner Christine Domino of Forest Hills, New York to get all the behind the scenes details on what the experience was like. Check it out below.
Propeller: How did you find out about Propeller and what was your experience using the site?
Christine: I stumbled across Propeller on the internet and fell in love with the work they are doing for social awareness and change. I was already an avid follower of Ram Dass and Krishna Das and when I saw the contest… I had to enter it.
Propeller: What were some of your favorite highlights from the trip?
Christine: Some of the highlights of the trip for me were the beauty of the Island and the resort. The food was fresh, phenomenally delicious and the staff was above and beyond in customer service. All of the workshops were informative and held with world renowned speakers. The nightly chanting with Krishna Das and his band was pure bliss. Having the opportunity to see and hear Ram Dass in person while he is still in his body was a true gift. The mala ceremony was a love filled experience. We chanted throughout the entire, several hour ceremony as each person went up one by one to gaze into Ram Dass's eyes and receive his love and a mala that he had prayed over and imbued with his energy. Each mala also has red threads from a blanket of Neem Karoli Baba's blanket on it, something that I will treasure for a lifetime. Tears of joy, love, compassion and community streamed down my face throughout the mala ceremony.
Propeller: Did you meet Ram Dass and how was that experience?
Christine: I did not get to meet Ram Dass one on one, though during the mala ceremony I did have the opportunity to lock eyes with him.
Propeller: Why is the Love Serve Remember Foundation cause so important to you?
Christine: Love Serve Remember Foundation is important to me as they continue to share the teachings of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba which is pure love. Our society needs their teachings now more than ever.
Propeller: Anything you'd like to add?
Christine: The experience was filled with many blessing and impacted my soul on a cellular level.
