About Chhaya Community Development Corporation

New York City is the most expensive city to live in the United States. Rents are higher than ever before, owning a home is out of reach for most of our people, and small businesses are still struggling to regain their footing. Simply put, building a life today in New York City is daunting for our low-to-moderate income community members.

For over 20 years, Chhaya has served and supported community members in Queens, NY. We are the only HUD-Approved Housing Counseling agency in the nation to specifically serve the housing needs of the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean population. Our core programs involve housing and financial counseling, immigration assistance, small business support, and civic engagement, all of which is provided in multiple South Asian languages. Not only do we meet our communities' most urgent needs, we influence systemic change for long term impact. Chhaya assists thousands of people every year, but the need to stabilize our communities and provide critical support and resources is greater than ever. With your support, we can help keep people in homes, get on the path to citizenship, keep the doors of their businesses open, and much more.
