The dangerous Keystone XL Tar Sands pipeline is finally dead. TC Energy, the company behind KXL, has officially cancelled the project after the Biden administration revoked key permits that were rushed through under former-President Trump.
This is a HUGE victory for our environment and our climate, and for Indigenous and other local communities who have fought back against KXL for over 12 years.
But before leaving office, Trump pushed through permits for numerous other climate-busting oil and gas pipelines across the U.S. He greenlit the Line 3 and Line 5 oil pipelines that would pass through large swaths of the Midwest and under the Great Lakes, the Mountain Valley gas pipeline that would pass from West Virginia to North Carolina, the Pacific Connector gas pipeline that would cut across nearly 500 waterways in Oregon, and the Dakota Access Pipeline, just to name a few.
All of these disastrous fossil fuel pipelines will wreak havoc on our land, water, and communities — and derail our path towards a 100% clean energy future.
Your message will be sent to:
Vice President Harris
The US Army Corps of Engineers
Dear administration officials:
I'd like to thank you for your historic decision to stop the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, and for promoting the most sweeping climate agenda in U.S. history.
Your administration is off to a great start on the environment, but to reach our climate and clean energy goals, you must go further. I urge you to keep up the momentum by shutting down all of the dirty and dangerous oil and gas pipelines greenlit by the Trump administration. These include the Dakota Access Pipeline, the Line 3 and Line 5 pipelines, the Mountain Valley Pipeline, and the Pacific Connector Pipeline, among others.
These disastrous pipelines will wreak havoc on our climate and our environment, and they will derail our path towards a 100% clean energy future. Furthermore, some of these pipelines violate decades-old land treaties with Indigenous communities around the country.
For the sake of our climate, clean energy, clean water, and healthy communities, please stop the Trump pipelines and set a standard that will prohibit any future dirty fossil fuel pipelines from being developed in the U.S.
