The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) was on the verge of making a terrible mistake and purchasing a new fleet of mostly gas-guzzling delivery trucks — which would have locked us into billions of pounds of greenhouse gas emissions for decades and generated more pollution in communities already burdened by dirty air.
But after submitting hundreds of thousands of public comments and filing a joint lawsuit with our allies, our advocacy made USPS redress its flawed, environmentally indefensible, and likely illegal plan. Now, USPS has announced plans to purchase at least 40% EVs in their new fleet. This change is a step in the right direction, but it's also not nearly enough.
We're running out of time to stop the climate crisis, and President Biden has directed the federal government to transition to 100% zero-emissions vehicles by 2035. USPS operates THE largest government fleet of vehicles in the U.S. and we MUST get them to do their part to fight the climate crisis and create the high-quality jobs of the future

Dear USPS & administration officials:
Thank you for redressing your original plan for the purchase of next generation delivery vehicles and plans to purchase 40% electric vehicles (EVs) in your new fleet.
This is a huge improvement on the original plan, but it's still not enough.
We're running out of time to stop the climate crisis, and President Biden has directed the federal government to transition to 100% zero-emissions vehicles by 2035. Additionally, a critical part of transitioning to clean vehicles is ensuring they create high-quality jobs. As the government agency that operates THE largest fleet of vehicles, you have a responsibility to do your part to fight climate change by purchasing a fleet of 100% union-made, electric vehicles (EVs).
Thank you.
