Michael from Virginia won "This Other Package" to Bonnaroo in Manchester TN where he got to meet Illenium, have a beer tasting with NGHTMRE and more!
After the experience, we caught up with Michael to hear all about his weekend. Here's what he had to say...
Propeller: How did you find out about Propeller and what type of actions did you complete to earn points towards winning this experience?
Michael: I found out about Propeller either through a Facebook or Instagram ad. I followed the links to the Propeller website and loved what I found. Propeller had so many amazing contests to enter and was involved with so many great organizations and charities.
Illenium is my favorite DJ and getting to meet him alone would make my life, so I took as many actions as I could; signing petitions, watching videos, signing up for email feeds, and donating money. Donating to the Bonnaroo Works Fund was the main source for my donations but I also gave to Alzheimer's research (having a personal connection to the cause) and several others.
Propeller: What was the highlight of your time at Bonnaroo?
Michael: The entire weekend was incredible. Bonnaroo is for sure my favorite festival. It has the best vibes and nicest people of any fest I've been to and I love how there is entertainment all hours of the night. I am usually the one of my group to go in to the festival ground earliest and stay out the latest, and Rob, my guest, is always up to stay by my side, so it was nice to have him for company all the time. Illeniums's closing set on The Other stage was naturally the highlight for me and Rob, and our meet and greet with him followed right after his set. Nick (Illenium) is such a cool, down-to-earth guy and we really enjoyed our time chatting with him.
Propeller: What was your favorite performance and why?
Michael: As I mentioned before, Illenium was my favorite performance because his music and sets are so diverse and capture every emotion imaginable. It will go from a cosmic swaying sing-along one minute to a dirty headbanging jump fest the next. His sets are never the same and he always mashes and remixes his songs in a different way every time. It is a rollercoaster of emotions and visually stunning. Surrounded by some of my favorite people in the world listening to my favorite DJ blow my mind; what more could I ask for to end a perfect weekend? Close runner-ups for me were NGHTMRE, Magic City Hippies, Walk the Moon, The Lumineers, K. Flay, GRiZ, my favorite band Rival Sons, and my favorite newly discovered act, SunSquabi.
Propeller: What was your favorite meet and greet?
Michael: Other than Illenium, the beer tasting with NGHTMRE in his trailer before his set was also incredible. Tyler is such a chill guy and talking to him was so easy and natural. We had such great conversations with him and enjoyed sipping some great beer with him before hopping into the crowd to watch his insanely amazing set.
Propeller: Which non-profits at Propeller are most important to you and why?
Abe: The Bonnaroo Works fund is important to me since Bonnaroo is a special place and festival for me. Propeller partners with so many wonderful organizations, but the Alzheimer's Association is particularly meaningful to me after my family lost our grandfather last year to this disease. I also like all of the organizations that partner to bring music educational opportunities to underprivileged kids. I wish I focused more on music when I was younger and believe it is very important to give kids the freedom to explore their creative sides.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the compaign! We'll see you next year...
