Kimberley from Telford won a trip to London to attend Pandemonium Con and hang out with Luke Baines and Dominic Sherwood. After the weekend, we caught up with her to hear all about her experience...
Propeller: How did you find out about Propeller and what type of actions did you complete to earn points towards winning this experience?
KIMBERLEY: I found the posting through Luke's post on his Twitter account where I found all the information regarding Oxfam and after reading Luke's posts, experiences and articles from Propeller I decided, even though I can not donate financially, I would try to help by sharing the information as much as possible and by completing the actions.
Propeller: What was the highlight of your time in London?
KIMBERLEY: The highlight of the trip for me was definitely meeting Luke and having a real chat about things and life, he was so lovely and caring. He truly restored my faith in people showing me that good people are still around he was a perfect gentleman. We kindly had Dom briefly join us and he too is a lovely guy. They both are very down to earth and made us feel so comfortable, it felt like talking to people you have known for years and I was able to ask them for there opinions and advice on something personal.
Propeller: What was your favorite part of the convention and why?
KIMBERLEY: The whole convention was so overwhelming for me as I had never experienced one before and it being with my favourite actors whom I have so much respect for as people and their work really was special. I really loved listening to them talk about their experiences first hand and how they felt, you can't put a price on that.
Propeller: How was your pub experience with Luke and Dominic?
KIMBERLEY: The pub experience really was amazing, better than I thought it could possibly be, especially for someone like myself as I have never won anything in my life and these kind of opportunities are once in a life time never to happen again. For someone like me, where 90 percent of opportunities are not available when you have a disability, no matter how much you want to do something or work in a particular industry it's all down to the luck of the draw as to whether you get a chance. The convention ran over a bit so we didn't have as much time as was planned, but it couldn't be helped, and it didn't change it being the best evening of my life. I loved just chatting with them normally rather than question after question as they had done that all day and wanted it to be nice and relaxed for them and myself. Also finding out I have so much in common with Luke was great, I wish I could have got to know them more as people as they really are genuinely lovely and I could just chat forever with them as it really felt like I'd known them all my life. I cant find the words to express how grateful I am and how great the whole thing was.
Propeller: Which non-profits at Propeller are most important to you and why?
KIMBERLEY: I don't really have specific non-profits, what matters to me the most are the things that will help others and give them a better life. The programmes/campains that will give people a better future. Anything that can do that, I give my full support to.
