Winner Recap: Win a Trip To Meet Omar Apollo at Red Rocks

November 19th, 2024

Kobe N. from California was the winner of the Propeller experience to "Win a Trip To Meet Omar Apollo at Red Rocks" that took place in September 2024. Below are some of Kobe's highlights from the experience.

So as soon as we got on the airplane, we flew over to Denver, Colorado! My sister was extremely nervous but then once we landed, she seemed really happy to have landed. We get there and get into our Uber, and I really appreciate Propeller giving us some rideshare credit, and enough to get us from point A to point B, and so forth. Our Uber driver was super nice and honestly, we let every person know that we won this competition because it's honestly needed and it's honestly important to let people know that you've won something in your life that is super important to you.

We were surprised to see how pretty the hotel was! It's so gorgeous! My sister and I were so shocked that it was so nice and nicely placed in Denver and close to the art district of Colorado which we really loved. We were able to walk around a little bit, look around and eat around.

Once we got to our rooms, we got situated. We only had a few hours to settle until we went to Meow Wolf station. It was my first time and I've never heard of it before! We explored it for a couple of hours and I loved how every room was different. It's crazy how small the place is but yet it feels so big — there are so many floors in it. Meow Wolf was really nice — my sister and I had a really good time. I love how it all connected.

After Meow Wolf, we headed back to our hotel! We went to the rooftop restaurant at our hotel. They had really good food! And then we went back to bed, and were ready for tomorrow. I got to go to the rooftop pool and then we got ready to go to the show.

We got to the show around 4PM. We got to check out Red Rocks and got our tickets. I still have our tickets. I'm happy to have some memorabilia. We started talking to other people and made friends. I told them I won the contest and they were asking me what I was gonna say to Omar Apollo when I meet him.

I was so nervous! I hadn't been that nervous to meet anyone in so long. We waited until we were picked from our seats — I had a little bit of anxiety. Dylan, the manager, brought us backstage, grabbed Omar Apollo and brought us to his dressing room. I was freaking out and I could hear his voice.

He introduced himself to us and we exchanged hellos. I was so shocked. I don't remember most of the things we even talked about. I do remember he was very nice and funny. I do have some highlights — I remember telling him I was obsessed with his recently released EP. I told him I hope he plays some of those songs. He didn't, unfortunately. I feel like he was really easy to talk to and like we could be friends. He has that very close family friend kind of vibe. I did have him sign a couple of things — my magazine and my tote bag. I also brought a Polaroid — we got a photo together and he even signed it.

I had such a great time talking to him. I'd love to see him again in the future. We got to meet his brother and the team of Omar Apollo. They're all really nice people. It was a LONG meet and greet like 30 minutes or so. It was so much fun. It was very much worth participating in this Propeller campaign. They even gave us some merch — hot sauces, a jersey, and more.

After meeting him, we went back to our seats. I really enjoyed the show and the openers. I became a fan of the openers! This might be one of the best tours he's ever done. He played all the songs I wanted. Our seats were incredible, we were so close to the stage.

This whole trip was so memorable and I appreciate it so much. I am still in shock that I won. It was an experience that I will never forget for the rest of my life.

I LOVED Denver, Colorado. I knew getting off the plane that I'd love it. I feel like Denver, CO is a perfect place for me because I love the city but I also love being away from the city as well. I took so many photos of the city's architecture and living there just looks like so much fun and I was shocked at how many people loved living there.

I cried a lot because I had such a great time and great experience that I felt like I haven't had in a long time. I'm happy that Propeller and Omar Apollo partnered with this campaign to support HRC. It's good that artists are becoming involved in helping with charities. I'm so glad that Omar is taking action and helping young queer people and for young people who are coming out to their families. I really appreciate what he's doing. I appreciate that Propeller is supporting much more charities and organizations other than HRC too. I'm glad I got to discover other charities as well. Even if I didn't win this experience, I'm very glad I got to get involved and participate and learn new things and support such great organizations I'm super interested in. I'm thankful these experiences are seen by younger people because younger people can help our world and support these charities.
