Since its start in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Queer to Stay has provided $750,000 in funding to 75 multiply-marginalized queer businesses — in cities including Knoxville, Omaha, Spokane, San Juan, Nashville, Tuscaloosa, Portland, Honolulu, Pittsburgh, Saint Louis, Little Rock, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Despite the ending of the COVID-19 national emergency, local businesses that serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community are still facing financial challenges — and are at risk of closures.
LGBTQ+ bars, cafes, clinics, salons and other local businesses often serve as safe and affirming places for large portions of the community, especially for young trans and queer people and communities of color. We need them to survive, and thrive. They need your support.
At a time when local LGBTQ+ businesses are working hard to stay open, they're also facing a wave of hate like we've never seen before. Opponents of progress seek to challenge the very existence of LGBTQ+ people and the spaces they occupy.
That is why businesses that serve the LGBTQ+ community are so important. They provide a space for queer folks to be their authentic selves and live their best lives — and we're not going anywhere.
