Aparna M. from Georgia was the winner of the Propeller experience to "Win a VIP Trip to Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta" that took place in May 2024. Below are some of Aparna's highlights from the experience.
I'm still raving about attending Shaky Knees as a VIP for free, and it genuinely may have been the best weekend of my life. Thanks to Propeller, I experienced a music festival for the first time, and it's definitely not going to be my last. I grew up on Atlanta's alt rock station, so it was amazing to see some of the acts I idolize in person. I also got to see some newer artists that I forged emotional connections with, like Noah Kahan.
Seeing Noah Kahan live was magical and deeply healing. And some acts were so much better live than in person, like girl in red and Young the Giant. I wasn't a huge The Struts fan going in, but the lead singer made me laugh out loud with his pure charisma. Also, getting called a 'motherfucker' by Dave Grohl made me a cooler person. Seeing the Foo Fighters live made me a much more confident person, and I'm going to remember that show forever.
Propeller made my experience so much more pleasant. I spent most of my time at barricade, and I was close enough to touch the artists and feel the music through my feet. It was delightful!
The best part about the experience was that I could take a +1, so I used this as a chance to reconnect with an old friend and experience live music with them. Propeller sponsors international travel, so I hope to one day bring a friend from overseas to the US for a music festival on their dime.
My friend and I also were given a hotel room despite both living in the Atlanta area, and it made the whole weekend feel so luxurious. Also, I've always dreaded music festivals because they seem so hot and sweaty and gross, but since I got VIP tickets, I had access to free water (it was even sparkling sometimes!) and clean, air conditioned bathrooms. Because of the parking stipend, we were able to park way closer to the festival than everyone else.
All of these perks made it possible for me to attend every single show I wanted to. With Propeller's help, I really felt like I maximized the experience, and I will try my hardest to get more tickets via them very soon! If this means donating to charity first, that's a lovely bonus.
